That is the questions that visitors to Reading Museum’s new Story of Reading gallery are invited to explore through the Resourceful Reading display, which is in the Community Cabinet throughout April and May 2019.

The display is a collaboration between Reading Sustainability Centre and Reading Museum to showcase some of the many things that people and communities in Reading are already doing to make Reading more sustainable.
Global agreements and action by governments remain critical if we are to make change on the scale and at the speed required to address the major challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion.
But action at a local level is also important. No action is too small. Lots of small actions quickly add up.
If inspiration were needed, Greta Thunberg and the Youth Strike 4 Climate movement provides a great example of how a seemingly insignificant lone stand can grow to have massive global impact.

Great exhibition – I took a look at it yesterday. I shall be giving a talk about Plastic Pollution at Braziers Park on May 12th, and have a couple of slides mentioning Refill Reading, Refill, TRSC, RFGN, Transition, Repair Cafe, all of which I usually plug when given the chance! I like the photos of Summreen and Alex at one of the Town Meal events, and Pete Ruczynski et al at Repair cafe. Reading is a great town with some great people living here.
Thanks Chris. Yes. There is an amazing amount of great stuff going on in the town. We really enjoyed discovering them as we put together the display … that said am sure we have still missed some. Really great that the display sits so centrally in the new ‘Story of Reading’ gallery – opportunity to reflect on the past as well as look to the future! Talk sounds fascinating. Definitely hoping to be there.
Yes, it has great foot-fall! I hope you can get to the talk, and that the turnout is altogether good. I’m optimistic, as it is such a topical subject, and also presents the opportunity to talk about sustainability more generally.
