Earth Day 2018: A world without plastic pollution
Close to 48 years ago, on 22 April 1970, millions of people took to the streets to protest the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development.
Earth Day is now a global event each year, with more than 1 billion people in 192 countries taking part in what is believed to be the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.
The theme of this year’s Earth Day is ‘A world without plastic pollution’.
From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet.
In response, Earth Day 2018 will focus on fundamentally changing human attitude and behavior about plastics and catalyzing a significant reduction in plastic pollution.
